truck engine VS Tbird Engine

located what looks like a good deal on a rebuilt engine that is in a 62 truck.  I am restoring my 55 tbird and may grab the truck engine and either strip parts or just drop it in the tbird for now.  I know I have to change the front mount but what else?

Front damper and pulley assembly, one inch spacer behind the water pump, and a more forward generator locating bracket all come to mind for this switch.  I believe you can get by with the truck oil pan but others may chime in with specifics for that.  If you do have the T-Bird oil pan and pickup available, then by all means use it as it is different from the truck pans.

Engine has 30,000 miles since rebuild but has fresh rebuild on heads with hardened valves (large valve heads), blue thunder intake, new 3/4 cam, holley carb bored 30 over.  Don't know if the truck crank and rods are a better option than what came in the Tbird motor? I was going to buy an intake, carb, better heads and rebuild the Tbird motor probably have to bore it 30 over at any rate so could scavange pistons.  Parts alone have to be worth a grand.

I assume there is some sort of date code on my Tbird block that would make it worth while using that block and just scavenging the parts?

Around 62 is when Ford used a forged steel crank in their 1 ton and bigger trucks. It can be identified by not having any notches on the flywheel flange of the crank. I don't know that you gain anything by it except if you want to run competition. I bought one many years ago just to have bragging rights that I can say I've got one. Also, the trucks had the dipstick about middle of the block on the passenger side and cars have it in the water pump. About 45 years ago I hastily stuck a truck engine in a 56 Ford on a Saturday morning so I could run around on Saturday night. I forgot to plug the hole and it was a rainy night and before I knew it I had a crank case full of water.
