Welcome Andy, Glad to see the Y block is alive and well in the Fatherland. I was born in Dusseldorf a long time ago. My father worked for some company there. we returned to the US when I was 3 and moved to North Carolina where I live today. You dont need to worry about spelling or proper English here. If that were a requirement there would be no members on this site. Its a great place to learn and share information and I am sure you will learn alot. Just stay active and ask what you want and comment on what you want to and enjoy.

Hello Andy I too am a newbie to the y-block. This site is amazing with the depth of knowledge from all the very helpful folks. You are among fellow car buffs who do their best to help. Oh, my parents were from Sindolsheim in the Odenwald and Mannheim. I still have lots of relatives in Neustadt. You must have fun parking ..do you still put two wheels up on the sidewalk?

Hi Andy! Welcome to our brotherhood of Y-Block restorers and enthusiasts. I am not German but I love Octoberfest (Oktoberfest), knockwurst, brats, and apple strudle, served in Frankenmuth, Michigan. You guys have the BEST beer. Feel free to ask questions about your ride. tschüsDave Dare

Welcome to the forum. Although I have owned Y-blocks for over 45 years I am rather new to the site also. I live in a town called Fredericksburg, Texas which was founded in 1846 by Germans and named after Fritz the Great. I learned English in school here, but I still prefer to speak German. My wife and I visit Germany several times a year. Her relatives from the Westerwald visit us and always want to take my "old timers" home with them. mit freundlichen Gruessen, Kenneth

Hey all you guys with German heritage and speaking English. What's with that? Don't your home towns have two languages on every package and sign, German and English? My ancestors came from Austria, and I don't think the Americans had to learn German when the Austrians arrived. Yes, the settled in their small communities and spoke German there, but when dealing with Americans, they spoke English. Why is that not so today?????

Oh, by the way, welcome to the site Andy. And it's good to know we have some German speaking members. If in the future we have problems communicating, you can express your concerns in German and we have translators to let us know what you need. Isn't this site great???

Andy. Welcome to the site. As far as posting the links so they work as intended, try putting an empty space behind the pasted in links before either hitting ‘Post reply’ or using a hard return to go to another text line. That space is needed so the site can recognize that it’s a URL and not just simple text. The links you previously posted have been modified and should work somewhat better now.

welcome up Guten nacht! I was born in Heidelberg while my dad was stationed over there in US Army in 1973. My mom speaks fluent German (though not a national) and my dad knows enough to get by. The last time I was there was back in the summer of '89. Visited Stuttgart, Munich, and went into Austria to view Reutte. Beautiful part of the world!!
