Fellas,

I am trying to help a typical parts house help me get the correct seal, & didn't find the Fel Pro # through the search function on any of the previous conversations on this site.

Any help is much appreciated!

Now I have two, but only need one.  I got a neoprene seal in my Fel-Pro Full Gasket Set, and was told my 292 bearing cap had to be machined for this seal so I ordered another, a BEST, from tee-bird.com.  Turns out, they are both identical, both correct, and the guy who gave me wrong info is a professional engine builder.  I guess nobody knows it all, and I should have done better homework.

If you like, I will let one go, either one, for $20, and I will pick up the postage. (Then, I won't have to sell it on eBay.)

Both sets are still in their original packages.  Here's the BEST seal:

As a side note, I forgot to add this:

The Best gasket set has equal quality to Fel-Pro and includes everything I need at a much better price.  The Fel-Pro is more money because it has four sets of intake manifold gaskets, four sets of other gaskets, etc.  They covered all engines/years under the same part number.  Now I have lots of extra gaskets that I will never use.

Simply Connected,

I am more interested in the part numbers.  I'd like to keep business local, especially since I have a rope seal to return already.

I have to be honest in that I am reluctant to buy the seal you offered on account of the nature of some of your posts & your willingness to attack some of the members on this site.  Many visitors have long touted the great community this forum represents & the eager willingness for the veterans of this great engine to respond with help, & information that they have past & present.  I believe aggressive nitpicking such as yours could be a threat to the members willingness to participate with unknown, or new members.

It has steered my willingness to do business with you in this case.

I am truly sorry for offending anyone, but I will always stand firm on issues pertaining to your personal safety.  That alone should affirm my integrity and honesty, even at the expense of my popularity.  If you call that "aggressive nitpicking" then I call, saying nothing, "wreckless abandon."

On the subject of buying this seal, no problem.  I too, can sell it locally as we have many Y-Block engineers and vetrans here, in Detroit.  Our chapter of the Motor City Galaxie Club meets at 7:30PM on Tuesday, June 2nd.  One of the guys will need it.

Fel-Pro part number BS 6141 fits 272, 292 engines

will not fit 312 engine as 312's have a larger main journal
