Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine. Friday night street drags 1/8th mile, run what you brung. Also a show shine and drags it is a big event with 500 or so classics, some just show and shine around the oval track and others drag race their classics all day into the night until there is a winner. It draws many thousands of people. How about you Northeast guys? Want to meet there for their show and talk about setting up a Y-Block Nationals East? If you havn't made Columbus, Ohio for Labor Day you don't know what your missing! Chuck in NH

Moonshadow, I don't know if we could get enough to have a Y block shootout, most of the ones I know about rarely take their car out of storage, let alone beat on it on a drag strip like we do, but the more I pound it the better it runs. somepeople just do not know how to enjoy the old time power torque and sound.

We have plenty of show folks in Ohio but a number of serious racers too. The race is a fever that is easy to catch if you are running against other Y-Blocks. If we can get the interest to set this up then we can try to entice some of the "Fast" Y's to come up. I know a guy in Maryland with a beautiful, low mileage 56 convertable that would shame the "I wont race it" guys! But it's entirely up to them. Just would like to see the gathering the racing will take care of itself! I usually dont get more than 4-5 passes on a weekend anyway so not much harm done. We need to get ALL the Y-Blockers in this area up on this website and forum so we can shake it out! Chuck

The website for Oxford is oxfordplains.com. I looked through the site to try to find when the show shine and drags is but most all the shedules listed are for the circle track events. The one thing about the show shine and drags that has pissed me off the last couple of years is the fact that they have judging for all types of categories I.E. mustangs, Cuda's, 55-57 scrubs, model A's, trucks, imports, etc. maybe 30 or so categories but nothing for 50's ford and I have asked them what is wrong, there is more 50's fords on the road than many of the others. We need a lot of Y's to show up at the event, get information to the CVA about the event because I feel lonely surrounded by a bunch of scrubs and their scrub Loving brain deads. As soon as I get more info on the event I will post it. There is no reservations or registering necessary unless you want to drag race. but you must be early because by 9:00am the place is full and the drag racing has already started.

Oxford Plains is still in negotiation. The track managers said they would love to see a Y-Block group at their reqular gathering. I'm thinking we should talk it up and see how many Y-Blocker's we can draw. We could plan from there. Chuck

Chuck, and all others interested. I looked for the date of the show shine and drags and found thier site, Its: oxforddragway.com The date is not clear on the schedule page so I wrote them an email asking for specifics because on another site it was listed as July 17th which does not sound correct because that is a Tuesday and it normally is on a Saturday or Sunday. The other thing I noticed on the site is that friday nights have always been run anything you bring. This year on the schedule they are showing fridays for Bikes and sleds and "Saturdays" as Test and tune, so it looks somebody will have to clarify the schedule for me. Also if you go to vipauto.com They are the sponsors of the show shine and drags and you can see results of past years but they too do not have the 07 date posted. Come one, come all, lets make it a ball.

Last years event was June 25. I also sent a EMAIL requesting a specific date. They do have a lot of "run whatcha brung" nites. But it's a pretty good drive for me from Manchester, NH. New England Dragway in Epping, NH also has open racing nites on their schedule. Also they have a Ford meet. Anywhere we could start getting the Y's guys to meet up would be a start. Then we can see what we have and start from there. A New England chapter of Y-Blocks forever would be neat! Ps. You dont have to race to show up! I'd just like to see a good showing of Y-Block cars and trucks. Chuck in NH

I've moved this thread to "this and that". Latest info will be there from now on. Chuck Just got an EMAIL from Oxford Plains. Their "Show Shine and Drags" will be June 24th this year. How about all you Y-Block guys in New England lets get something started. This is just a begining to see the interest we can possibly look for a more central location at a later date. Be there!
