Any advice on suppliers of suspension rebuild kits for 55 Tbirds? Would like to tighten up the suspension and worth it to do a complete rebuild.

Hello. At the Pleasanton California Good Guys car show I saw a 55/56 Ford front end rebuild kit was offered. 20 piece kit $199. They also had new gas tanks. www.autocityclassics.com 763 444-5880 I hope this helps. Pete

Make sure you have some one check out the ball joints. The Ford ball joints for 54 to 56 ( and for years the Checker cabs) were just about the best ever made and usually do not need replacement unless completely ignored as far a service is concerned. As these are the most expensive part of the front end kit, you could be wasting money replacing these.

I am of the opinion that if they have been there for 50 years and they are tight, they will probably outlast any new ones you buy today. Ford ball joints were really tough, but the idler arm wore out as fast as I could replace them.

Hi paul thats good advice, i must say over the recent years so much is made offshore and packaged locally that i have noticed these lower ball joints are lucky to last a few years compared to normal time, i guess its a sign of the times. regards bill
