i was just wondering how hopped up can the y-block line of engines get what is there limit for power and torque

There's been one in the 750hp area.



As with any engine, the true limit is the depth of one's pocket.

The Y can take a lot more than a stock blocked small block.

Block failures are rare but not unheard of.  Blown Y engines with a main support girdle appear to support 775 horsepower without much issue but without a girdle, around 500-550 HP seems to see an occaisional block problem.

oh sh#@ nice picture not your block i hope, so 350hp shouldnt be asking to much? and what would it take to get there and how much torque will it put out at that level

Essentially takes head work and a camshaft.  Carb, intake, headers, and a decent tuneup are also part of the picture.  Increasing the compression ratio also helps.  A 318” Y with head work and a cam recently made 373HP at 6000 and 354 lbft torque at 4300 rpms.  Blue Thunder intake, 830 cfm carb, and headers were still a required part of the combination.
