Right in front of me! It is almost as exciting as starting the new engine the first time. Installation will be easier since I used white grease with no other sealer on the manifold gaskets when they were put on in Feb., following Ted's lead. There wasnt coolant or vacuum leak. Thanks John Mummert!

I'm guessing that this is Mike's thread. So glad you're happy with it! Sorry for the delay on getting the manifolds finished. Everything thing takes longer than it should.

Congratulations on completeing another y block part, john, could you tell us the highlights or advantages of this new intake in comparison to the B/T and cast B intakes, oh! and cost of this new intake. I.m sure we are all interested. Many thanks again. regaregards bill.

Yes John, its mine. Anything special on the torque specs for the allen heads. Given the intake design, maybe a phenolic spacer will be unnecessary. I'm going to try not using one. The intake includes a full assortment of allen head stainless bolts, and even a throttle return spring bracket. There is also a plug probably for the heater hose fitting. Mike

Is there an aluminum t-stat housing for it too?

John it looks great and really like the logo. Well done.

Rick, a Rebop thermostat housing from Frank will be put on.

Not at the moment. If there's enough of a market (more than ten per year!) could happen.

Well Frank, I can use TWO for the car for starters.

Put me down for two Thermostat housings AND two improved water pumps! Might even want another front cover. Chuck in NH

I assume white grease used so as to simplify gasket change. Not recommended for permanent installation though?

Thanks John Mummert!I assume white grease used so as to simplify gasket change. Not recommended for permanent installation though? The assumption is right, it was meant to be a short 2-4 week install of the iron 2V. Ted had made mention that he used the white grease during dyno runs when intakes were going to be switched, so I thought ah ha. John ran into problems and the installation was longer. However, I have been wondering if the grease idea may be a good one for the aluminum intake to help the increased movement due to expansion contraction. Read some time ago that early aluminum head failures were due to the fact that machine shop milling of head surfaces used to produce a coarse surface like with cast iron. It resulted in surfaces not wanting to move while the aluminum did. They changed their practices for milling an aluminum head with a smoother finish and it helped. Dont know much of anything for sure. The type of gasket material may or may not be a player. These were cheapos with no metal shieldiing.

I'd take two of the aluminum T-Stat housings for trucks if made.

There wasnt coolant or vacuum leak.I assume white grease used so as to simplify gasket change. Not recommended for permanent installation though? There’s no reason the grease can’t stay for the long haul but some sealer around the water jackets would likely allow you to sleep better at night. I do use K&W Coppercoat on the bottom sides of the gaskets to keep them in place but use white grease on the topside. Besides the grease allowing the gaskets to be reused several times if doing some quick intake changes, it also allows the intake to be slid around so that it can be properly aligned before tightening the bolts without the gasket being dragged out of place. This last Saturday morning, I used the same intake gasket set five times on the EMC engine while testing five different intake manifolds and that particular gasket set still appears to have some more intake changes left in it.

So I went to Johns web-site I can't find anything on the new manifold. Would like to see one and price. What makes it different than the one he has been selling?

The one he's been selling is a Blue Thunder manifold. The new one is a Mummert manifold - completely his design. So far it's proven to be better in the case of performance. Hopefuly we'll have some dyno results soon showing how it does on more of a mild engine.
