Air cleaner spacer for Holley type carbs

Long time no post!



well this has been a problem for me for a while now, I have a 1/2 plastic spacer under my holley 470cfm 4bbl, and hood clerance is an issue with a 3" tall filter, my ford logo aircleaner nut is now all chewed up because it rubs the hood from my lead foot, i have a 2" tall filter but the lid would get too close to the carb to my liking, and I have try one of those ultra cheap air cleaner spacers but it will not fit, does anyone know a aircleaner spacer that would work? oh and i want to raise the air cleaner about 1/2 in

They make some low profile air cleaners that drop the bottom of the filter down around the carb a bit. The center where it fits around the carb is raised so carb clearence isn't a problem. Check the speedshops. Chuck

Geez Holun, I was afraid you'd gone over to the darkside. Got any tires left on the back of that Ford?

Try this link - you might have to call them to get all of the details - but this is a real deal race car part (which I'm always in favor of). The base only is a deep drop set-up and they have some nifty O-ringed aluminum spacers to set the height.

These ram air guys below built the cold air set-up for my 442 and it looks pretty original - not... Holley has always claimed that lowering the inlet air temp by 10°F is good for a one horsepower increase. I put a thermocouple down the throat of my carb to check it with the open element 4" K&N I had on there before - and after the cold air system. The drop was 40° on a 100° day (down from a measured 140° to ambient). Four HP ain't much but I'm sure it might be even better in some circumstances - Arizona is a hot place.
