Not Y block specifically but Y block car related. Does anyone know if the rear brake drums from a 55,56 Tbird will fit my 1956 Merc ? The Merc drums are 11" diameter, 2" brake shoe with a 5 on 5" lug pattern. Thanks, Pete

Thank you Mark, figured that would be to easy ! Seems that a lot of GM stuff fits the critera for my drums, problem is finding the ones with the right offset. If that doesn't pan out then I'll be looking for used ones. Pete

Petew It could be that the drums will bolt on but you will have to go to a different width brake shoe. I think the 11 inch drums used 2 inch and 2 1/2 wide shoes. The brake shoes in the Tbirb are 1 3/4 IIRC so the shoes will not fill the width but will still work OK. Pete

I think Merc used a different bolt pattern than Ford. I once put a gm drum on my son's '57 Ford. The diameter, width, center hole, and offset were right, so I redrilled the holes to fit.

John, The bolt pattern is 5 lugs with a 5" spacing or 5 on 5 as they say. Pete

Pete I think I still have two 11 inch drums from a 1959 F100 that had a Dana 44 posi and those are 5X5. If you want them my Zip is 94556 and you pay the shipping. Or try NAPA. Pete

Pete, I have a friend that works at a NAPA store and he tried ordering in some 11 x 2 inch drums with a 5 on 5 pattern. Problem is the offset on the drums is always wrong. With that said I thank you for your kind offer and would gladly pay the shipping on your drums. Before we do all of that lets see if they will work on my Merc. If you could place one of the drums on its face (axle side down) and give me a measurement from the surface you placed it on to the drum then I can see the offset matches my drums. Pete

Try NAPA 6401073. Rear brake drum 1959 Ford F100 RWD. If it fits , no shipping and a new drum. Pete

Pete Measurement. With the open side down it is 2 15/16 inch to the top face of the hole the wheel stud goes into. Hope that makes sense. I had a 66 Shelby and that had 11 inch drums and 2 1/2 inch wide shoes. Pete

Pete, The drum from NAPA was not a match. The lug pattern was 5 on 5 1/2 and the offset was wrong. The measurement you took does make sense but doesn't match mine which is well over 3". Thanks for the offer, looks like I located a good used one so I think I'm all set. Pete
