Are the earler truck mounts the same as the Bird's? Comparing pictures of the T-bird mount to mine I cant see any difference.

The pic is from ebay. but I have one just like it now, and have had two others previously. They must be from the 57 or 56 and earler trucks. The mount when specified for a Bird often gets at least twice the price as the truck. There were at least two truck mounts that were different than this, which came out in the later years. That would be what you have Dustin. (I sent a check today). Mike

Mike, the mount you pictured will fit 54-55 trucks and 55-57 T-Birds. It won't fit 56 trucks because that was the first year a crankshaft damper was used in trucks. The damper ring of a passenger car type damper will hit the reinforcing ribs. Car and truck dampers were the same from 56-on. The T-Bird damper sticks out far enough to clear the ribs. I have seen factory pictures of T-Bird engines that appear to use the mount you show but when the new mount for the 56 truck was made with the spread ribs the T-Birds probably got it too

Interesting info John. Thanks, as I've been seeking it for a while. I think I sold the other two on the bay as fitting early Ford trucks and T-birds. No negative feedback, but too often the mismatch doesnt show up for the buyer until weeks or months after the purchase.

Thanks Dustin but I dont need much, except some new lifters, a bunch of JMs offerings, and a '54 car . Just trying to get rid of some extra parts that are hanging around.

Hey Mike, see what I mean? Looks like you might be ready for some fun like the old days on FTE, J40?
The red mount is like the ones on 54-55 ford trucks, 56 trucks ARE DIFFERENT I'm not involved with T birds so I'd go with the Mummert explanation

The orange mount pictured is from a 1956 ford truck. I have several, and look the same. Bill After inspecting my mounts...they appear wider at the gussetted area where it slides under the damper. The overall view is just like the red one ,but after closer inspection may be different. Mine is from a 56 ford truck. Mike,I am mistaken, and can fess up when wrong. Bill

I cannot find the i.d. on these mounts either. Sure would be nice to find a part number on these. I tried to install a 292 and 3 speed into a 56 ford f100 and the engine was from a 64 f100. The mount was wrong, and the darn thing needs a different mount. So,I still have the yblock....but installed another in the truck. Bill
