I was looking through some old family pics and seen a few of my 55 whan it was new and now thinking on taking off the aftermarket wheels and putting steel wheels and the dog dish hubcaps back on with whitewalls,I am going to raise it back up as I got it too low and get it looking like it was in the pics.

I fell in love with the 56 Ford when it hit the showroom in Sept of 1955. I wasn't able to afford one until I got out of high school in 1962. I just got my 4th 56 Ford last week and it is much closer to showroom condition than the other 3. I'm going to do a little body work and leave it just like it is. I still think they look good just the way they sat on the showroom floor over 50 years ago.

My dad bought it new and I let a friend talk me into installing a 351 W/C-4 and I decided it needed to be lowered and put aftermarket wheels on it but after seeing the pics I need to put it back the way it was,I am not going back to 6 volt and I am going to keep the disc brakes but I am going to put the original dog dish hubcaps with 2 inch whitewalls and get it sitting back up some but not exactly like it came from the factory as they tended to be a little too nose high. I was originally going to keep the 272 and adapt a FMX as I did not like the FOM since I had 50s Olds for years and liked the 4 speed hydromatics and the FOM seemed like a big slug but I let a friend talk me into the newer motor,I am on the hunt for a 292 and will go with a FMX and probably keep the 8 inch rear end too,the friend that talked me into changing the motor is hunting for a 57 to 60 F100 and when he gets one and if it has a 292 its going to be mine and will start from there on putting it back close to what it should be.

Ted, that scrap bin is one of the most beautiful sights I've ever seen. I'll never forget going to visit my mother's uncle in 1957. He was showing off his brand new 57 smell-aire 4 door. Even at 6 years old I thought it was the ugliest thing I'd ever seen, until the 58's came out. Followed by the bizarre 59's and the take the cake for ugly 1960's. scrub didn't make a decent looking car again until 1961.
