Anybody using this intake on a street car? I would be interested in learning how it runs. You can pm me on your opinion. I got a modifed 312 and am thinking of going with this manifold.

I have the old intake from Mummert on my bird. Works well much better air flow than before with B manifold. Lighter too. Have Holley 390 CFM on it Manual choke . Just changed to Lokar linkage . Very pleased so far.

On the EMC engine, the Mummert intake was slightly better in both torque and horsepower output than the Blue Thunder when tested from 2900 to 6200 rpms.  Both manifolds were tested with and without a 1” spacer and the Mummert intake was better than the BT in both testing scenarios and at both ends of the testing scale.  I would expect that the driving characteristics with the Mummert intake would be also improved over the BT intake based on the dyno results.  Both of these manifolds will again be tested in detail on the smaller cubed dyno mule engine in December.

The foundry is supposed to be making another run of castings. Should have some ready late December or early January.

I only see the Blue Thunder on Mummert's WEB site. Am I missing something or looking in the wrong site?

Hi Brian,  That's a picture of John's new intake in his reply just above your message.  It's easy to identify because there are no heat passages from the heads up to the carb area, unlike most manifolds.  Lets the engine get cooler air, obviously.  The Blue Thunder aluminum intakes have the passages to allow manifold heat.  Have fun, Nick Brann - K.C., MO

I know the forum rule prohibit price information here, butwhere can I find that? I do not see it on the WEB site (unless I am just missing the page or blind!) Thanks

Sounds promising. If it's significant enough, I'll be getting one.

Add the fact that it just looks cool Cool, and if you have an aluminum valley cover it shows it off better.

There are no specific rules about posting prices.  Here’s the link to John’s site showing a picture of the new intake at the bottom of the page.

I didn’t see the price but the introduction price for the new manifold was priced lower than the Blue Thunder.

Thanks - And I agree that a nice valley cover would really look good with this. I am very curious about the price. The intake looks like it is raised higher than stock, so would there be hood clearance issues with a T-Bird hood using a Holley 390?

Based on the new Mummert intake I have here, it’s just a little more than 5/16” taller than the ECZ-B iron intake at the carb flange.  Using a ¼” carb spacer instead of the factory ½” spacer should still allow the new Mummert intake to work under a stock T-Bird hood.  Another option is no carburetor spacer as the new Mummert intake is expected to run somewhat cooler without the exhaust crossover being incorporated within it.

Hopefully John has engineered/included a vacuum take-off (in the most efficient location) for PVC (?), as the standard kit spacer/take-offs are fairly thick.

I'm interested.  Any clue on price?

The vacuum port on the new Mummert intake is in the same general location as the ECZ-B and Blue Thunder intakes which is at the back.  The ideal position for the vacuum port for a PCV valve is either at the carb spacer or at the carburetor throttle plate where a more even distribution of vacuum signal is available.  The vacuum port at the back of the intake relies heavily on the signal from cylinders seven and eight.

The pricing for the new intake was in the $365 neighborhood for the last run.  I did see the price posted somewhere but can not find it now but John's original plan was to keep the price of the new manifolds less than the Blue Thunders for the obvious reasons.  John’s contact information is at  http://www.ford-y-block.com/info.htm  .   John is a member of the site but he doesn’t log in regularly so he may or may not see posts that are directed specifically to him.
