Charlie Burns and I just got back from checking out a bunch of stuff that a guy told me about at the drags in Oct. He said I could have everything Y related that he had for a certain price, very reasonable, if I just come and haul it out of there. We will get four complete 292s one Lincoln/truck Y and four 223s plus heads (mostly truck heads but I saw atleast six 113s and some ECZ-Cs, no Gs), cranks, tin, rockers and other junk too numerous to list. All of it has been out in the weather but it looks worth the trouble to me. here's a few pix. Cheers!

couple of 312 cranks in the last one, rusty but still good.

The guy said we can come back for this one when he pulls it to put the Flathead back in, Doesn't look like he's in too much of a hurry though.
This dosen't come with the deal but I thought Charlie McCraney would like it.

Sweet! Is it a unibody? Is it even for sale?

You know I didn't even look at the bed, but no it's not for sale. I'll look closer when we go back out. If you come out to race with us in May maybe you can make him an offer, everything has a price. He also had this one.
Now that I look at this pic it does look like a "Uni".

Tim, you and Charlie need to get yourselves a tractor trailer to get all of that stuff out of there! I guess there are still gold mines out West...

Wow.. man what a score.. you and charlie must be livin right or something It's nice that it all seems somewhat organized even if it was outside.. When do you guys get to go pick it up?

Tim, now all you need to do is haul it and store it Gotta be some good stuff in there. Don't see too many Mexican pick-ups north of the border or were they also sold in Canada with Mercury badge. I'm very curious about the block marked B5AE. I have never seen one that had a ledgible date code. As far as I know they were replacements so the date code should be 58-59 or later. If that one is 1955-56 then I need to redo my block listing on website.

Tim, now all you need to do is haul it and store it Gotta be some good stuff in there. That is gonna be fun for sure! Charlie's place is going to be the storage facility and we have a couple of trucks going to pick up the stuff, it's about 90 miles to the site from Charlie's so with driving, loading and unloading it will be quite a job but better than hearing of another bunch of Y stuff being melted down to make cheep Chinese replacement heads.I'll let you know about the B5AE block when we get it back.

That's awesome...and beyond what I could likely sneak into my garage...I thought I almost got away with slipping the one extra "Y" into my domain, but alas my wifey is very observant, and I am not sneaky. Looks like some heavy lifting...90 miles, hmm...you guys gonna be up my way? Or is it 90 in the other direction? Look at all those rockers!!

I can't remember which parts but there are even couple of pieces in the 223-6s that cross over to the Y-Block.

Tim, I'm always looking for 3 speed truck bellhousings, 6 or Y-Block.

John, what I saw out there was mostly bells for the "granny" four but I'll keep you in mind.

Hi Tim, I hope you post a picture of all the stuff you guys load up and stash. I sounds like it will be more than a pickup load.

Well today was the day. We made our first trip back with a load of parts, got a bunch of stuff, now just have to clean and see how good it all is. I was happy to see 3 sets of ECZ-Gs, 3 sets of 113s and quite a few more ECZ-C heads plus a number of high ratio rockers. Other parts are just too numerous to list but let me say this, we will never run out of timing covers.
That is less than half the heads, we still have another trip to make up there.
Plenty of exhaust manifolds, more left hand than right for some reason.
Took a few more pics of the M-100 also for Charlie McC.

That is quite a few parts!
If you have any of the triangular bodied distributors that you want to sell, I have a buyer.
And if he wants to sell that truck, I'm sure I can find someone who wants it. Transportation costs aside, I don't have a place to keep it. Is the tailgate missing? A Merc tailgate will be difficult to find.

Wow, I dont think I have seen so many Y parts in one place, you got to pack a lunch and a water bottle to find one or parts of one around here, you guys dont realise how lucky you are.....Sheesh a stash like that would be great to pick through. I would walk on water for a set of 57 Passenger car dual manifolds, any amongst them you would part with? JG

2DRHRDTP57 (12/20/2009) Wow, I would walk on water for a set of 57 Passenger car dual manifolds, any amongst them you would part with? JGI would say that any and all the parts will be for sale when we get them all sorted out, profits from the sale of these parts are going to the "Bonneville Comet" fund most definitely a "Non Profit" organization so you may be able to write it off on your taxes . (don't quote me on that)

A Merc tailgate will be difficult to find.Charlie, I will look through the dizzys and see if I can find one. As for the truck he said he would sell it but he didn't give me a price, he started to go on about the "documentation" that he had on it so I think he was going to set a high price. When we go back I'll see if I can't nail him down on an exact price and I'll see about the tailgate.

If that one is 1955-56 then I need to redo my block listing on website.John, I took apart the B5AE motor yesterday although I can't read the date codes it is a 272 with C2AE rods and a "spade" style gearotor oil pump and "load-o-matic" dizzy, the deck also had the steam holes drilled in the middle. The engine was std. all the way through and the bearings had FoMoCo in block letters not script. So, does this help you or just confuse the matter more?
