Can someone tell me the size the rotor hub needs to be machined to so they will fit the stock wheel hub opening? Also which way does the caliper face when mounted?I am guessing with the brake hose facing towards front of car.Last question. The lower hole in the spindle needs to be reamed to a #7 angle? Is this the correct term and size? Thanks

The # 7 reamer is correct. Go slow and check often with the rod end. You can make it too big. Caliper mounts as stock, which is mounted to the upper rear if I remember correctly. The bleeder goes up.

I HAVE DONE A FEW OF THE GRANADA CHANGES ,I AM NOT SURE THE HUB CAN BE TURNED SMALL ENOUGH FOR THE STOCK WHEELS. I USED STEEL WHEELS OFF OF A LATER YEAR FORD 70'S SOMETHING THAT CAME WITH THE DISC. BRAKES. I DID HAVE TO TURN A TAPER ON ONE SET OF HUBS TO CLEAR MY CENTER CAPS ON A SET OF MAG WHEELS. TOM

Mark - The Ford tapers are cut at 1-1/2 inches per foot (which is slightly over 7°). Check your old uprights for the large opening diameter at the lower ball joint with a dial caliper - it will be at or near .875 inches.

How much clearance is required between the centre hole in the stock steel wheel and the hub of the rotor? What I can see it wont take much turned down on the rotor hub to fit through the centre hole of the stock wheel but it would be helpful to know how much smaller the hub must be to allow for expansion due to heat.Anyone know the answer?

Check the clearance between the 56 wheel and 56 hub. That will tell you what clearance you need. Actually, if you make the Granada hub the same size as the 56 that's all you need.
I've not done this, but from what every one says there is plenty of meat to cut it down.

Paul,The original Ford hub is quite a bit smaller than the hole and I could not turn the Granadac hubs that small. The original bearings are quite a bit smaller than the Granada ones. The hole in the wheel is 2 1/2 inches. The Granada hub is just over 2 1/2.If I know the clearance that should be required I will know how much to take off the hub.Yes there is lots of meat on the new hubs which is why I think its OK to take them down a little.

appears I was ripped off by junk yard and was sent granada spindles instead of Lincoln spindles. Now I need to find someone who can ream these out for me. I have tried machine shops in Carbondale Illinois area with no luck. Any ideas on a place that does work like this in the southern illinois area?

I think Speedway sells the reamer you need. If you can convert the brakes you can ream out the hole! Chuck

Try (www.xkut-reamers.com) price=$69.99,that's where I bought mine, good quality reamer made in the USA! I used a Makita battery operated drill with a 1/2" chuck and some cutting oil, just like cutting butter-- so cut a little at a time and check for fit till you get what you need(check-check-check) easy to do,just take your time! Oh yeah-Part #5952! Hope this helps. P.S.-- you can go to their web site just to get an idea what your looking for. KID

Nobody has come up with an answer to my question.I would like to use the stock rims if I can.Has anyone done this and how much smaller than the centre hole in the rim does the rotor hub need to be to allow for heat expansion?

I used my stock rims on my 54 Mercury, but I used 75 Cougar spindles which required me to ream my rims out 1/4" bigger inside. The rims fit perfect.
It cost me a total of less than $200.00 to convert to power disc brakes with 11" rotors and bigger calipers. If I have to change another 50's model Ford product I will do the same thing as I did to this Mercury, it was too easy and cost less then a kit or the Granada ways.

Thanks Jeff! I found the answer to how much clearance is needed between hub and rim opening on another site about Granada brakes on early Mustangs-.010.Its easier to turn the hubs on the rotors than reaming the rims.I would need to do 3 rims.Rotors arent installed yet.By the way Granada rotors are also 11 inch.

I put Granada spindles on my '54 Customline recently. I had a pair of '69 Cougar rotors in the garage that I had bought and sold the car before I used them. Since they are new I decided to try and use them. I put the Granada race and bearings in the Cougar rotors and they worked on the Granada spindles. The center hubs on the Cougar rotors are smaller and the original wheels fit right on the rotors. Probably just as easy to turn the Granada rotor hubs, but since I had them I wanted to use them. Just thought I would add this possibility to the mix.

You have discovered that Ford uses a lot of interchangeable parts Not unusual because there are parts that fit 1952 Fords that also fit for example 1985 Fords.
