I really was wanting to raise my 55 back up this winter but after some serious thinking I have decided it will be best to do it when I get a 292,I have lowered springs in it made specially for the 351-W/C-4 and will be needing new springs for the Y block so I will wait untill I get it and will have to suffer another summer or two untill I get all the parts and do it once and right.  I will be changing the gears in the rear end since the 2.79 gears in the 8 inch are two tall and will be going with 3.00 or 3.25s and repairing the issue with one of the new axle bearings that has too much end play.

I have a car and should of mentioned it in my first post, dropped axles are available for your truck and you will need to move the rear end above the springs to lower it in the rear.

Junk you can drop the ass pretty low with out fliping the rearend.  I dropped mine about 6 inches from the stock ride.  I removed a couple leafs, fliped the hangers and used drop shackle.  Different people with different approaches.  Bing

I did not think you could drop them that much without flipping the axle.

Technically I did the following in order to get the ride height I liked.  Started with reverse eye main leafs and removed a couple leafs (about 2" drop), then drop shackles (about 2" drop), then fliped my front hangers (about 2" drop).  Still think I could go another 1 1/2 to 2 lower but it would require moving the front hanger from its current and original location.   Don't quote me but I think I was sitting at 32" from the gound to to the center of the wheel well before the drop and I think I am at 26 1/2" now.

Bing, there's something about your truck that I like. Just can't put my finger on it.
