I'm replacing the clutch in my 54. Its a 312 with a 11" clutch, Ford toploader 4 speed-regular duty (not the big input). Can anybody give me specific application to use? Three finger type. Thanks

I had a '57 312 back in the day that was warmed up a little bit and I think I had an 11" Sheiffer in it ... I think the pressure plate was too ..

Paul; I'm using a Centerforce 11" clutch and pressure plate with a T-5 tranny in my '56 Customline. It's a very nice set-up and gives you a very light clutch pedal. Rono

Please pardon my manners by not answering the posted Q and instead asking my own... I went to Centerforce's wed site but the show no listing older than 1983... how would you select the right 11" kit for a y-block? Brian

The Centerforce works great. I use their "Dual Friction" in everything now. They carry all sizes of discs and pressure plates, so you just have to call them with you input shaft spline count and size, and overall diameter size. I have an 11" centerforce in my wifes CJ mach1 and bought it out of Summit's catalog. I have been using the 10.5 diameter for a 5.0 mustang application along with Mummert's Billet flywheel ordered to fit the mustang bolt pattern on my Y-blocks. It is easier to push than stock, smooth on street, and will not slip at the track. It worked so good I started busting transmissions after I got it broke in, until I uprgraded to a TKO.

Y-Guy Paul: Another source is SPEC Clutch. They do a lot of the late stuff but they can do almost anything. I put one in my turbo 292 and it works great. I don't have a number but you could google it. Talk to Matt, he's a personal friend who works there.... Bill

I installed a toploader 4 speed from a 64 Galaxie with a 390. This was installed on my built 312 with a stock flywheel. I used a 11 inch clutch made by Sachs part number K0465-02 which fits the flywheel and it has a disc with 10T and comes with the throwout bearing and several pilot bushings and the pilot tool.
Works great for me. Yes it is the Borg and Beck style clutch cover "three fingers".

I forgot to mention my input shaft is also the "small" one like yours. Sot this kit is what you need.

Centerforce is the way to go. I've tried everything and nothing even comes close to centerfoce in my opinion.

Paul,
You asked for a specific application. The K0465-02 is for a Fairlane or Galaxie 66-70.
Use any Clutch you see fit. I am not endorsing any make of clutch or brand. This one just happens to work for me.
Use this part number and The Brand SACH's so you can interchange into any other brand you might choose.
I just wanted to give you the application information you requested. Hope this helps!

I replaced the three finger long clutch in my '57 Bird with a local auto parts replacement diaphram type clutch for a "390" Ford pick up truck. Pedal pressure is much less. Had "406" clutch in it before. Works great and easier to shift. Also not too expensive compared to an aftermarket performance clutch.

I'm using a Centerforce Dual Friction. The pedal is lighter than stock and it's supposed to be good for 450-500hp. Mine is an 80s mustang application.

I used an 11" in front of a T10 which has the 1 1/16 or 1 1/8th diameter 10 spline and the order when looked up in a catalog was the same as for a 63 Galaxie with the 406 combination.
