I have another 63 f-250 292 2wd project that is a relatively rough truck with plenty of rust, however alot of family history (& rust!) makes me want to keep the same chassis & not do a body swap, as they commonly suggest on the FTE site.

So, my main objective is to keep it a Y-Block powered truck, with newer married style t-case & trans(my logic is stronger & less mileage & age= drop in, & possibly an over drive trans?)

I would also be swapping in later model axles, & leaf springs & hangers. ( I assume that I will be relocating the perches on the axle housings, & at minimum beefing up the front x-member, & getting creative to locate the axle CL within the original location.

Crazy, nuts, stupid, yeah, but the main thing is what trans? can be fit to the back of a Y, using either truck bell housing, or even going with a car bell & adding in motor mounts up front & then x-member(s) for the trans & t-case?

I can visualize it parts wize, my main concern is how to bolt up the Y-block.

The Bendsteds adapter puts any SBFord bellhousing behind a Y-Block. That would allow you to use later transmission. Would require front and rear crossmembers. The adapter is a little pricey.

They are located in Ham Lake MN. Pork Pond according to Jerry C.

well im building a 59 f100 that i converted to 4x4 and im planning on using a nv 4500 trans out of a 96 dodge pickup. not sure how im going to do it yet but it will most likely be very creative.
