Trying to install front timing cover without the "centering" tool ford recomends.

When I removed the cover the seal was "eaten" away on the top 2/3.  Seems the

cover was "off" a little. Suggestions welcome and quick....

You could install the balancer before you tighten up the cover bolts. I did mine while the engine was standing on end with the cover up and never had a problem. Did 1 in the car once and just centered it by eye, it did not leak either. Todays seals are more forgiving than the leather seals they where built with.

You can use the dampner on the crank to locate the cover. Just slide it on the crank, don`t tighter it on. Then bolt the cover on. That way the cover is positioned where it should be. Pete
