I am preparing my garage to remove the yblock from my 57 Bird. I have seen some car dollies, the ones that go under each individual wheel. I would like to get the engine out and then move the Tbird to a better position in the garage while I do the engine work. Does anyone have experience with these or are they a waste of cash. Thanks

To just get it out of the way, you might be able to achieve the same goal with the careful use of a trolley jack.

I have a set and have used them many times. They roll very well on a smooth concrete floor. I even moved my car out to the drive way, turned it around and pushed it back in once! That is without help! I've also used them to store transmissions and other heavy parts. Set them on one and strap it down and you have an easy move. Don't waste money on the high falutin' versions but make sure they are wide enough for your tires. Chuck in NH

Get a good set, the cheap harbor freight ones are crap. I had to replace the casters before they worked. I could have bought a good set for the initial cost plus the cost of new casters.

I have done the floor jack thing for years but...I am a one-man operation and not as agile as I used to be so trying to make it easier on my aged skeleton.

Thanks. I am going to see what Summit is offering.

I bought the "red" ones from Speedway and love them. If the car is heavy, make sure you have the casters all pointed the same way. Sweeping the garage floor is a good idea. I've welded jack stands to them and recently I bolted a Y Block floor stand to a couple.

I move my 51 Fordor around by myself, but it is a chore.  Roy

I've got a set of the wheel dollies for my 57 Bird and they work fine. What worked better for me though was the little $14 dollar furniture dollies ($9 on sale) from Harbor Freight. I got about a half dozen or so of them and I roll the bird and all the pieces all over the garage. They handle a full car with no problems and if they break, which they haven't yet, what am i out.
