FEAR AND LOATHING IN Y-BLOCK LAND!

It seems to me that the fear of speaking or writing the C word in this forum is completely paranoid and bogus!
Your '54 Ford looks great with that Chevrolet grille!

Philo, i think 8 lashes may be appropriate??Laugh

Chuck, its meant to be fun!, i was hoping some members could reccommend some interesting  results of using this word.

I was thinking of having 1 carb removed from tripower for 3 months on 1st offence.

If jerry C was online i think it would be fireing squad, ha,ha! Hehe

The word/name Chevrolet, is not bad when ya consider the Louis and Frank both drove Ford...., and that Henry never drove a scrub..

I'm more of a hot rodder, so I don't get as bent about Chevy's...In general, they're too common and often a safety net for ease and budget...whatever!

I'm here because of the wealth of help and knowledge, and hopefully the ability to contribute from time to time. By I use the parts that work and contribute my finished "vision"...

My F-100 has CHEVY derivative column from Ididit, a Cadillac engine/transmission, Calipers from a Monte Carlo, rear end from a Lincoln, and 4 3/4" Chevy bolt circle on all the wheels...I'm not sorry...It goes really well and gets a lot of attention.

I got Chevy/Mitsubishi starter, Volvo cooling fan, Toyota heater core, Suzuki motorcycle injectors, Chevy headers, horn from Isuzu Bellet, second horn from some U.S.S.R. automobile, sensors from various european cars, Chevy Connecting rods, Chevy damper, Fuel Pump from I dont know, etc...

Who am I to judge.

Back in the early 60s, when I was a no-nothing teenage "pump-jockey", the older scrub guys who hung around the gas station often made rude Ford jokes (the "fix-or-repair-daily" cliche was common). Out of frustration, and with no inherent wit, I blurted out that I had brought my Chevy tools along (dustpan & broom). To my astonishment, they all became quiet and looked down. I had apparently hit a nerve.

Daniel, i like that answer! Of course those guys forgot that the real explanation was First On Race Day! My often used remark when around those orange colored engines is" Where,s the chain?". Then they ask what chain? and i reply" thats attached to the boat! ".

When I first saw television almost 60 years ago, other brands were always referred to as brand X in commercials. Now commercials mention the brand by name and I think the commercials are more effective. I don't see anything wrong with mention of other makes. I don't think any of us would be here if we didn't have a fascination with y-blocks. However, anyone who has a funny acronym, lets hear it. I'm always in the mood for a laugh.

I guess this is a newbie question,  but what does scrub stand for?
By jonnireb - 15 Years Ago
Hey guys,

I throw myself on the mercy of the court. I made the comment

about the grille on Shawniverse's '54. I guess it must have been

a moment of weakness.

I'm 68 years old and have never owned anything but fords.

By way of punishment let me suggest 20 lashes with a strand

of wet spanish moss.

Well, i think you,ve shown remorse and wont do it again, so one lap around the block in a Ch*^*# should be punishment enough!
