Thanks for sharing the invoice prices on the ’54.  A ’54 with power steering and power brakes is a novelty.  Didn’t see those options on very many ‘54’s.  Some of those prices are interesting too.

It is kind of cool to see the things they charge as "options that we take for granted today; Turn Signals 19.56, Heater 84.43, Radio 87.50 and best of all, antifreeze 7.50. Thank you for sharing that. I really enjoyed seeing it.

I have a copy of the original invoice for my '56 Bird.  It was a pretty stripped down model, heater and ww tires.  10 gal. gas, $2.22.  That's cool.  But the kicker is, $6.53 for an OIL FILTER!  Huh?  The invoice for my '57 Bird shows no oil filter charge.

I found the original paper work for my 55 sunliner and it was 2898.50 before tax and doc fees (86.96 and 25.00),what got me was the radio was 87.50 and the heater 71.50 and the power pack option was only 38.00.  If it was me ordering it I would of forgot about the radio and possibly the automatic trans that was 178.00 and put in a aftermarket radio,I can get am/fm cd radios now cheaper then that.  I think you had to get the automatic trans to get the power pack but I would of added it later from the junkyard or parts department.   2467.00 plus  radio-87.50   heater -71.50  FOM-178.00   powerpack-38.00  wsw tires-27.00 and undercoat which probably caused most of the rusting-29.50  Along with the invoice I found the original license registration and I am thinking about having plates made with that number.

I'm nut sure when radio and heater became standard, but the radio option was called super and the heater option was deluxe. A super deluxe was really up town and generally considered extravagant in the drought stricken Texas Hill Country during the 50's.

The 87.50 radio was the 6 tube with the black buttons and I wonder what the 8 tube with the chrome buttons cost back then,I am glad its got the good heater as it really puts out the heat and I have seen the cheaper heater that looks like a add on.
