T-5's were first installed in Mustangs about 1985. Dimensionally, the V8 T5's remained the same through 1993. In 1994 the input shaft was lengthened. World Class T5 was introduced in 1987. These are said to be stronger.
V6 T5's appear the same as V8's externally.
4cyl T5's have a slightly longer input shaft with a smaller pilot.
4cyl pilot = .590" V8 and V6 pilot = .668"
4cyl T5s are wide ratio with very little overdrive.
Early Rangers( 83-86) used a Toyo Kogyo 5 speed, which is junk.
Around 1987 the Rangers went to a Mazda built 5-speed
