I don't particularly care for football so i decided to skip out on all the invites to SuperBowl get togethers to tackle more important matters

heres a before pic

and after a little elbow grease

Then i got to tear apart my square-back spindles.. theres nothing like prying loose 68 year old tie-rodsTongue

So that was my anti-football sunday (actually it started with eight hours at the daily grind)

anyone else rebel agianst the norm on superbowl sunday?

I spent the afternoon reorganizing the work area so I could get the 62 out of the dirt and onto the concrete part of the barn with the other two pickups.

In the process needed to start and reposition the 46.  First start since Oct.  Had a hell of a time getting the elect. pump to prime after dumping all the gas in the fall.  In the process realized my Pulmonary Capacity is not real good, but good enough for now.  After putting in 10 gallons of gas to the fuel cell, with pump running sealed the gas inlet with mouth and blewwww.  Finally worked.  Plan now to replace the pump with its Carter predecessor.

Earlier in the day picked up a new set of speakers off of Craigs List.  Will be putting a relatively nice (for a barn) stereo system in soon.

It beats watching football!!!

I spent the afternoon getting my next "Crate" engine  ready to run-in.  This one is a 309ci  (.030" 292 with 312 crank) should be done and ready to sell next week.  Money for the FED.  Wink

Still shoveling snow. More to come tues night into wednesday.

ditto on the snow. We got 33" over the weekend, and now they are calling for 5+ tomorrow morning into Wednesday! I would like to speak with Al Gore - this is all his fault...Tongue...after he led the charge on all of the global warming bunk, I think God just sort of laughed and said, oh yeah?, watch this...funny how Washington DC has been nailed with snow pretty good this winter.

As far as the superbowl is concerned, I did watch a little bit of the football game and NOT the pre-game hype, nor the half-time show with the Who (what are they now running around in wheel chairs now?). Tongue

Maybe someday I watch Superbowl and look what super is in it.

Its hard to watch football when you must remember all those rules.

I spent superbowl Sunday pulling the engine and transmission from a 56 Ford while listening to oldies radio. That was a lot more fun than watching any football game(or anything else on TV).

fired up my ranchero, tightend dist. cap on the mustang and added some coolant.

ran to home depot for some stupid stuff (nobody there!)

then pounded out four more pistons from my frozen flathead block.

Isn't that where they kick the black and white ball around on a field?Tongue

I spent the Superbowl Sunday towing a 78 Dodge Van. We tryed to just move it out of my friends junkyard, but it didin't work so well (only runs with thrust). We couldn't figure out why it was so stuck, and so my friend got out the "Sno Commander" truck and ripped it out of it's hole...but we only had three feet of leeway to turn it around!

So my friend drove the thousand feet necessary to get the front, and after three or four movements we got it out...unfortunately, my friend had had a little "liquid motivation", and so he drove me to the main road on two flat (and I really mean flat) tires and a busted wheel bearing at almost fourty!

Once on the road, my other friend (distinctly dry) drove me down the road at thirty...way too fast for that rattle trap!

Once we got it to the garage we found the coup-de-grace...no dirveshaft. So thats why it wouldn't move! Ah, we'll just sawzall a driveshaft after a plymouth voyager in another junkyard.

And that's what I did over the superbowl sunday.

After re-plumbing my well pump at the garage and blowing all the dirt out of all my faucets and toilet valves since my foot valve got surrounded by silt and sucked a ton of sand through my system. ("Don't tell anyone, but I stole a pair of my wifes panty hose and wrapped them around a bucket full of holes with the foot valve in there so it wont happen again".)

When I arrived home I sat in the recliner with a glass of wine to check out the game and thought I could hear Hoosier cursing way up here in Maine.

Could have been me you heard. I was somewhat less than happy. Almost as bad as being beat by a scrub.Angry

pegleg - snow tires sound good, but the chains are already out! BigGrin My four wheel drive expedition cuts through just about any amount of snowfall, but this sort of crazy. It started this snowing this morning again - expected to get another foot or so.

BTW. Why American Football is called football when they mostly carry the playing devise in their hands and ball is not ball-shaped?
By Hollow Head - 15 Years Ago
With that same logic Baseball should be called Home base run BigGrin. Ain't that a game where runners try to run back home before the ball?

I quess yanks can't run when they have the ball near their legs ( danger to step on it! ) and thus they have to pick it up....BigGrin

No hard feelings, just jokin'

Seppo, I tried to watch Soccer (footsball) once. Kind of reminded me of watching the parking lot at the mall. People running everywhere and nothing happens. More fun to watch the fights in the grandstands!!w00tw00t

Jep, Frank. And was it canucks who discovered ice hockey? I wish they would play those games as they used to at the beginning. No helmets, no shields. Then we would see who really is "The" man and stands between the fist and the rink Tongue.

I spent a pretty good while going through my spare parts that I have accumulated from swap meets and eBay over the years. I was really stupid for putting GMC parts with my Y-block parts. I am trying to get some organization by putting the jimmie parts in one store room and the y-block parts in another.
