Is a fuel tank and filler neck needed to be grounded for proper operation of fuel gauge and to eliminate the chance of sparking while filling?  DV

I don't think they were grounded from the factory, but I like to ground them at one of the sending unit screws. I have seen erratic fuel gauge readings fixed with a ground wire.
