Hi! I´m sure there exist more than this threads about my rooky question. But I did´n found clear answers to my planed setup.  My 292 is still innocent ... not fresh but in good shape. And I´ll throw out that ugly cross over exaust with the lousy sound and performance. Headers from Reds seem to be the right choice. Also the little intake manifold should replace. I think about a blue thunder from John Mummert with a 500 edelbrock carb. What do you think about this setup? Marcel PS: Used parts and junkjard sessions aren´t possible, because of my location .... GERMANY. Sorry for my english btw.

Sounds like a good start to me. As long as your going with the Blue Thunder intake you might as well talk to John about a good cam to go with it.

Marcel, I think the cast iron ECZ-B 4-barrel manifold would be a better choice for street use with a 500 cfm carb (or a little smaller cfm model--see forum on carb size other members have used with good results) but if an aluminum manifold is what you want then go with John's new one insted of the Blue Thunder(used with a more modified engine)!Using the cast iron manifold would be cheaper and the money saved could be put to the cost of the new carb!KID

Okay, but will Edelbrock carbs fit on the ECZ-B 4-barrel manifold? I mean carbs like the Performance series I can get here at a local dealer. For sure I'ld prefer more economic opportunities to run a modern carb.
Sorry for my greenhorn questions, but searching the forum is hard because of the language. Where will I find a suitable intake?

The ECZ-B manifold will allow you to use an Edelbrock Performer carburetor.
It has the "modern" pattern so any new square bore carburetor will mount to it.
There are a few modifications you should consider before mounting the ECZ-B manifold and larger carburetor.

Marcel: I don't know about your weather, or if you will drive your truck in cool, damp weather, but if you do, you probably don't want Mummerts newest manifold as it does not have exhaust heat to the carb mounting flange. Heat is needed there to heop prevent carburetor icing in humid weather. n Blue Thunder and ECZ-B manifolds have heat to the carb.

You find all 4 seasons here in Germany. I´ve found a intake on ebay last night and now it´s mine.
I will slot the holes and try it out. Should I change the ignition timing Point?

The Y’s in general do like more initial ignition advance though than what was supplied from the factory. Experimentation will help you find the best curve once you start changing up the camshaft, carb, vacuum hookups, and distributor.
