I want to say .045" because I set my pistons .005" out of the hole for .040" clearance.

The guy that rebuilt my motor says .038 thick ???.My pistons are also .005 out of the hole .Pulls strong in all gears. Loves to cruise at about 75 to 80 mph .Has stock rear end with 3.22 gears & 205 x 75 x15 .

The value I use for the Best Gasket head gasket thickness is 0.046”.  The cc’s I use for compression ratio calculations for the Best Gasket head gaskets are 10.00cc for the standard BG gasket, 10.12cc for the big bore BG gasket, and 10.69cc for the 4.030 bore BG head gasket.

Sweet. So that should put my compression at about 9.35. I never knew what figure to use for the gasket. I never asked.
