Block cracks

Can I have a few opinions on these cracks between the centre pots. Block has just come back from the machine shop, bore size is 3.75. Worried that the cracks will continue on into the cylinder wall. Do I have a good base for a glass top coffee table or is it still useable for the street.

What actual bore size before the recent machine work? How much closer is the flaw to the finished wall than before?

I have always had to remind myself that some of these things were running along un-noticed - before I took it apart - and many years before........

Block was a 272 now bored to 292, lucky it wasn't taken out any bigger or it would be right into the cracks.I checked for cracks before sending it to be machined but virgin metal is a lot easier to see faults.Maybe a result of overheating as this block did not have the extra cooling holes between the cylinders. I drilled these before the trip to the machine shop.

This is the area that many Y blocks blew the head gasket between cylinders.  That's heat cracks.  I doubt if they would progress any farther, they are actually in the deck surface, not the cylinder walls.  They indicate how thick the walls are, the cracks stopped there.  Looks like the deck has been cut sometime after the gasket blew.  I would probably use it if it were mine.  It can't leak water, the gasket will seal it.
