Always thought mine leaked from inside but where it mates to block, gasket failed and oil ran down the back outside of tube and looked as if was dripping from inside tube.

Looks like this just in case you haven't had yours apart in awhile. Gasket pictured bottom left caused leak but make sure small return tube is cleaned out

I'm pretty slow but expect to have engine back in car this week. Hope it is OK for me to share this little bit of information and it would be nice if it could help someone with messy oil leak.

Howdy,

Good pictures and nice job on the engine!

I am going to cap that hole and do a PCV valve on my 292 like others here have suggested.

Have you consider doing it?

Regards,

Rick

I had thought about doing that but now that I have flattened the surface that goes against block (was sort of rounded at bottom, even with the backing plate welded on inside) believe it should be a much tighter fit and curious to see if it fixed leak. With it off and cleaned up noticed that the canister did not have a good fit and base also was a bit out of round making for a not so tight fit.

Does anyone have pictures of the block area before the draft tube assembly is put on?

Also any pictures of the PCV and its location?

Thanks

This is where it goes...not sure how they hook up PVC without changing valley pan to newer one.
