I went to a guys place today to pick up an intake.  There were cars and trucks all over.  Lost count but approx. 7 or 8 '54-'56.  Two '57s,  Two '57 front clips.  Around 8 station wagons from 55-62, including two '60 (always like the weird 60).  There wasnt a single '58 or '59.  One Unibody.  Engine parts all over in a general mess.  Plus other later model trucks and cars.  Even found a 43 or 44 1.5 ton WWII military truck.  Basically it was a private salvage yard.  The man, Paul, said the county is putting major pressure on him to get rid of it ALL.  Unfortunately every engine compartment I looked into had the motor missing, except for a '57.

About the '57.  Keep in mind everything there needed major restoration.  But this one still had the engine in place.  I could only see through a small opening, but saw the 4V carb on top.  All the glass was in place so that decades of rain hadnt entered inside the car.  Didnt see any major rust issues, even though there must be some.  Electric windows.  Two door hardtop with all of the generous exterior trim present and good.  Cant get it out of my mind, so will try to make a deal.  Paul is supposed to get back with me when he locates a set of G heads he says is somewhere on the premises.

Well the '57 deal didnt work out.  The car belongs to Paul's mom, and he said she wouldnt take less than 3K.

Didnt take the camera.  But if I go back for the heads definitely will.  Most of the engine stuff that we came across was pre 57.  Later probably was sold years ago.  Mom no doubt is an original hot rodding gal.  Didnt meet her.  Dad suffered an unknown serious accident  and is in very bad shape.  It is all sketchy except for what I saw.  Paul said Mike?Joe? loved his Y-blocks.

That sounds like an awesome place mike.. Too bad about the 57 though.. Was this far from from you?  If she seems like a cool old hot rodding gal maybe you should remind her that if the county wants it gone they'll pull it out, crush it, and then send you a billw00t

Thank god for Alaska...My friend owns an S-10 with a buick Skylark engine, both found and transplanted abandoned at the airport. I found my favorite car at the beach. In a small way, the entire city is a salvage yard.
