hi guys,

I am new to the forum.

i have a couple y blocks a 292

and a 312 in a 1957 country sedan.

i have a question.

how do you replace the choke tube on the intake manifold.

mine is gone and broken off at both ends.

the mushroom is broken off.

do i have to drill out the old one?

iv tried pushing it out with a punch.

I had the same problem on my '57 wagon. My tube was broken in half, in the exhaust crossover chamber. The tube has two different diameter ends so it will only install in one direction. I carefully drilled out each end and then worked the pieces out. Obviously you need to have the manifold off the car for this operation. The air intake (mushroom shaped piece) and the pipe are available from after market suppliers. Because my tube was broken my choke housing had quite a bit of carbon build up that affected the choke operation.

awesome thank you!

i also got an e mail from a guy at prestige Thunderbird, who told me if you put in a sheet metal screw the piece should come out with the screw!

so i got a few ways to go

thanks again!
