narrowing connecting rods

I got my rods today and noticed that the big end is off set from the beam. I was planning on machining the bulk off the thick side to center it up. Is this the correct way?

A little more info would be helpful. But you always want to remove material from the side that faces the journal radius. You can only remove .015-.020" from the side that faces the other rod.

Depending on how much you need to remove you will likely need to narrow the bearings. Make absolutely certain that the bearings have clearance to the crank radius. If the bearing rides on the radius you will burn up the bearings and the crank.

I did that way. Then your rods are almost symmetrical like original Y rods. I dont know, is it right way, but I cannot see any wrong about it.

the rods are sbc eagle h beam rods. i have narrow bearings for them. they are .941 wide. I was planning on removing .065 from the wide side and .005 from the narrow to get .871 width with bearing in center. This seams correct to me, just thought i asked before i ruined my nice new rods because of something i missed.

Another option is to widen the rod journals to 1.810” before starting to narrow the rods.  This helps to reduce the amount of material that must be removed from the connecting rods.
