Blocking the heat riser

Good morning.

Getting closer to the finish of the 292 rebuild (Coleman Bros) and wondering how folks block the heat riser crossover in the manifold or heads?

I just cut 2 pieces of tin big enough to cover the opening from the heads.Stick in place with a little silicone so they dont move and put the gasket OVER them and install the manifold.

I fill the cavity in the head with Bondo.
