Here are some generics for increasing the torque.
Increase the compression ratio.
Four barrel carb.
Four hole spacer under carb. Experimentation will determine the ideal height.
Crossover pipe behind the engine on the dual exhaust.
Carburetor. Not necessarily small but metering must be doing its job.
Gearing. Engine must be running in it’s ‘band’.
Camshaft. Having a split duration with a closed exhaust system in this case will improve the lowend torque numbers. Smaller intake duration with a larger or longer exhaust duration. Lobe centerline and where the camshaft is installed are all players.
Ignition curve. Both the mechanical and vacuum advance must be in harmony with each other.
