In time past parts like clutches, water pumps, starter, fuel pump, etc. could be turned into an auto parts supplier for rebuild.  Are there any outfits that these things can be turned into, short of metal salvage?  Hate to throw them away.

Some years ago I bought a rebuilt water pump from a vendor at Carlisle. He was from New York state. He wanted an old pump in exchange.

Just threw a bunch of that stuff in scrap, didn't know what else to do.

What a shame.  I guess this stuff is just too old for rebuilders.  Used to be able to take it in to some shops in the midwest in the early 90's.  Dont know exactly what the internal bearing shaft arrangement is on the water pumps, but it seems like someone could start a garage business rebuilding at least them.  I would bet that Cuba has one or more rebuilders for all of these "throwaways".
