As Paul mentioned, if you are not getting it through the head use air. I have cleared some before by filling the hole with a solvent, let it sit a while, poke down through with a wire and blow with a good high air pressure. repeat several times until you can hear the air coming out the cam bearing below. Change oil after or best to pull pan also and wash because the crud may get back in your system.Sometimes however, the crud gets baked in the turn at the head and there is no alternative other than pull the heads, and of coarse if it is the cam bearing you will have to go further into the motor.
