I have a 292 with 57 4bbl intake and one of the New Holly 4bbl replacement carbs from CASCO and a spacer.  Timing is 10 BTC.  The engine is newly rebuilt and accelerates great over 55 MPH but on initial takeoff seems sluggish.  I'm wondering if I have the vacuum lines connected correctly.  THis is how ther are connected now: Standing in front of the car looking in the engine bay:

The left fuel pump line is connected to the windshield wipers.  The right fuel pump line shares a connection at the back of the intake with a future power brake hose connection (blocked).  The distributor is connected to the outlet on the left side, bottom front, of carb.  A smililar connection above that one is blocked off.  On the left, rear bottom, of carb is another connection about 5/16 that is blocked off.  On each side of the choke adjuster are two outlets connected together with a short vacuum line.

I purchased the carb (looked new) from another y-block owner and it had gas in it so I know he tried to use but I did not get a clear answer as to why he was selling it and the intake.  I have looked for vacuum leaks and don't believe I have any.  Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Gary

Gary:

You didn't mention what year your engine is, but if it is a '55 or '56 with the original distributor, it will not be happy with a later carb, no matter where you connect the vacuum.

Thanks ... Yes, forgot that,  I have a 57 distributor.

What model Holley are you using(stamped on metal choke housing at top of carb)?

The number stamped on top of the choke is: 80457-3, and under that is 0974.  Another number stamped where the front two bbl bolts on is :  11761.

Thanks for your help.
