Ok, here's where I'm at:Have a 1955 Fairlane with 272 and vacuum operated fuel pump, 3-speed manual. Just rebuilt carb ~2-3 weeks ago. Fuel tank looks good from the outside (I've tried to attach a picture....I'm hoping it worked!), though I know that's no indication of what may be inside!.
I rebuilt the carb because there was some major throttle tip-in hesitation. Changed all gaskets, power valve, plunger, etc.
Seemed to do the trick when I took her out for a short test drive. Had her out for a nice long Saturday drive through the countryside this past weekend however and I was running into the same issue when trying to start on a hill or really get going from a stop sign (not flooring it mind you, just trying to accelerate quicly enough to get out into traffic type of situation).
This is my 1st older car....heck, it's the 1st car I've owned with a carburetor!
So my question is this: am I just worrying about nothing here, or does it sound like I may need the tank pulled, cleaned, and re-sealed? If the latter, am I going to need to go through the fuel lines as well?
Also, is there even a fuel filter on a '55 Fairlane? Sorry about this last question, I just haven't had a chance to check my service manual yet.
Thanks for your thoughts guys! I actually don't mind getting this taken care of if necessary, but at the same time I don't want to go through unnecessary work/expense for nothing.
