I am not usually one to preach ( yeh right! Wink ) but I have to get on my soap box and give praise when praise is due. (sorry not for you LON Tongue )

I recently purchased an alternator kit from Larry Becker Auto Electric out of Norwalk Ohio. Being unable to find the time to build my own brackets I contacted Larry and for the price he's asking, it wasn't worth sparking up the welder. He offered to mail me the kit to save on freight and save duty fees. After getting the kit, it was a 15 min install. It worked great at first, but unfortunately it failed a few days later. Unfortunately these things happen. After a quick call to Larry, he sincerly appologized for the inconvienence and had a replacement one in the mail, before I hung up the phone!

Well I got my new alternator an amazing 3 days later and it works just  great. BigGrin

In this day it is amazing to find someone like Larry who still runs his business on someone's word and/or a hand shake. He is obviously a true "Y'er". For anyone looking for and easy alternator kit I STRONGLY recomend using Larry's kit. He is a scholar and a true gentleman and supports Y-Block mag as a advertisor.

Ok that's my two cents and I get off my soap box now. Tongue

Vintage Air makes a combination alternator and compressor bracket. Both are mounted on the passenger side. I have one in my 54 (312) and it fits right. I'm only using the alternator part. They have a bracket for TBirds and one for sedans - be sure to order the correct one.

I too purchased the kit from Becker - It installs in the original generator bracketry, so it is on the passenger side in my 55 Club Sedan. The motor is about ready to run, so we'll see about the quality. The fit sure is good.

Daniel is correct, it mounts on the passenger side and bolts right in place of the generator.

Can you post a picture of it? I'd like to see how it looks.

Not sure of how to put in photos, and I really cannot get this to work, so give me your e-mail address and I can send one.

I'm not great at posting pictures also but I can try. If not, there is a picture of it in Larry's ad in Y-Block mag.

When I put this T-bird set-up together, I used a chebbie low mount bracket from Speedway and a little "artful fabrication" on the backside (with thanks to the local muffler shop). This is a GM style "one-wire".

Where can a guy get a selection of pulleys for the alternator? The manufacturer recommends a ratio of 3:1 versus the crank (for general street use) - but it also needs to be the right width and depth. I hate to get a custom part made if you can buy one. The one in the pictures is a Mr. Gasket - best I could do by shopping.

I bought an aftermarket Ford chrome fan and pulley for mine. Fit great! They only list a few options across the years. Chuck
