Does anyone know of a good source for electrical wire, with a wide range of colors? I'm finding places with about 10 colors, but always one shade of each color and always solid colors, no stripes.

For instance, I would like to find a place where I can purchase, say light blue and dark blue or maybe even blue and blue/white stripe, rather than just a blue.

They have what I'm looking for at this time, and by the foot, too!

JC Whitney had a large selection of colors last time I looked. I ordered some and it seemed to be of good quality.

Charllie - try these guys they have many grades and colors of high temp (underhood) SAE rated wire - and a good explanation of the types as well.

Another tip I learned - if more color varieties are required, coil the leads and mark them with a black band of indelible marker. Gives you a "black" dot tracer on a second use of the same color.

KayJay looks good, too. The 1st one has 20 awg which is what I need at the time. I looked at JC Whitney but it's difficult to navigate and just searching for wire isn't very useful.

I was just about to order from Waytec, but they have a minimum of 250 feet. I don't need near that much.

I have bought multiple conductor cables and cut them open to get different colors. We have a couple of electronic surplus houses here that carry that type of cable. There might be soomething in your area.

Charlie - Depending on the product, KayJay will go down to 10-20 ft minimum. When I was rebuilding my engine compartment harness, and wanting the high temp stuff, that was the best deal I could find.

The problem with Kayjay is they don't have 20 awg. I found some of the good stuff on Ebay. Still gotta buy at least 100ft of each but that's better than 250. I only need probably 4 feet total!

The person on eBay directed me to a site where it can be purchased by the foot, http://www.wireandsupply.com/. I've ordered some and it's on the way!

I got the wire today. It looks just like the stuff the high end harness people use.
