Just reading a listing on Epay for a pair of polished repro T-Bird valve covers.Seller claims his repros are better quality than originals.Something about pitting on originals on the  ends.I seem to recall somewhere that repros were not as good quality as originals. Are there different  producers of the repros?

THE ORIGINALS WERE VERY GOOD , ABOUT 1975-1980 FORD RECAST SOME THAT HAD PITS IN SOME OF THE END FINS. FORD HAD SOME CAST A FEW YEARS AGO THAT WERE POLISHED DOWN SO BAD THAT THE TOP OF THE BIRDS HEAD WAS ROUNDED OFF. I HAVE ALSO SEEN NEW CASTING MADE IN MEXICO,THAT YOU HAVE TO SAND AND POLISH YOUR SELF( O.K. FOR A DRAG CAR OR HOT ROD,BUT NOT FOR A SHOW CAR!) MAYBE SOME OF THE T-BIRD SUPPLIERS ARE HAVING THIER OWN CAST. WE HAVE HAD OVER 30 LITTLE BIRDS OVER THE YEARS, AND I HAVE FOUND THE ONES THAT WERE SHIPPED ON THE CARS TO BE THE BEST CASTINGS

Just to share my experience with a repro, I say they are not that nice that they look on pictures. Got a set, that a frien bought when visiting the USA some time ago. he gave me the covers, because they were leaking oil troug a tiny hole on the side. Invisible unless you really look for it, but enough for a leak.

The originals he had were 100% better made. I did retore the originals, and the result was very, very close to new.
