Anyone know where I can buy that special valley pan with the recess in it that goes under the Ford dual quad intake?

Thanks Oldmics. I've seen this one on Epay but wanted to see if anyone new an aftermarket company that makes them for cheaper. $450 is quite steep and I don't need an original. I was trying to create that recess by hand on my old pan but I was having trouble. Just thought it would be easier to purchase an aftermarket one. Any other suggestions???

Somewhere in previous posts is info on making your own or modifying one to fit.Do a search of previous posts or perhaps someone can find it and post it again.

You could maybe get one of the ribbed aluminum versons off eaby or aftermarket - then have a machinist put the clearance in there with a mill....................

If you don't want Tom's flat one, I have an indented one that could be had for about the same money. I'll be at Columbus also, be home Monday.

Thanks everbody for the input. I've searched the forum and seen the modified valley covers but I just don't have the equipment to modify metal other than a hammer which I already tried. I think I might have found one nearby in Corona, CA @ Larry's T-Bird & Mustang. Gonna drive out there this weekend to see it. Not bad for $115 if it's the right one. http://www.larrystbird.com/T__6519.html

If your going over to Corona to Larrys off the 91 freeway and things don't work out,try over by Barry White's hotrod shop or Marcell's metalcrafters nearby, they can build a stainless steel body using a popcicle stick as a metal buck(LOL) so modifing your valley pan should be easy--and if their shop rate would be $100 per hour, they should be able to do in less than an hour.(just an example) KID

Thanks kidcourer, I wonder if they can fix mine? I really beat the sh*t out of it with a hammer trying to recreate that recess .

Has anyone ever looked into the feasibility of manufacturing a die to perform a restrike operation to put the manifold clearance embossment into a standard cover plate? Are there any other different or unique features between the standard and 8V cover plate? One could become a real "carpetbagger" converting standard covers into 8V versions. I've probably seen 50 312 8V aluminum intake manifolds for every cover plate for sale. Either make some money and/or ruin the market on the original ones. Regards, Dennis

Dennis: I have no confirmation, but I think the T-Bird 2-4 cover has an offset in the oil fill tube, it is also slightly shorter. This was to clear the lower sitting air cleaner on the Bird. But your idea of re-stamping originals has some merit.
