While hardly a street engine, it would be interesting if Ted would fill us in on the Bob Martin report of a 342 cu. in. Y-Blk, built by Ted's shop for David Church, producing 504 H.P.! Is that with Iron heads?

Was hoping that the early ‘Bird that this engine was going into would be be together in time for Columbus.  But the car was pretty far apart when I saw it two weeks before the event so I can understand it not being finished in time for Columbus.

The engine was initially ~504HP with iron heads and Blue Thunder intake and jumped to 510HP with the Mummert intake manifold.  It’s a race motor with upped compression and with the same camshaft that’s in my roadster.  Crowding 0.600” lift.  The ‘113’ heads are fully ported and both intake manifolds that were tested were also heavily modified.  Much of the piston ring and friction coating technology that went into the EMC project was also incorporated into this iron headed Y.

There will eventually be a full write up on this engine in the YBM but it’s down the road a bit.  Too much other interesting stuff to write about right now.

That would make a great engine for a C/PP landspeed truck, I wonder if 510 HP would push a Unibody to 162 mph?

Our thoughts seem to be aligned this morning Tim..... I've got a few short wheel base small windows..... and a few big windows.....

Edited to add that my much heavier LWB big window with a 292, t5 and 3.73 will do 110. I would imagine it is maybe 225 HP.
