I want to make sure that the number I have for the Best Gaskets head gasket compressed thickness is correct at .047". I don't want to shoot on having my piston come out of the hole .007" of inch only to find out the compressed thickness was wrong and have to have a custom head gasket made, or throw my block away. Thanks, Ryan

I use 0.046” as the value for the Best Gasket head gasket thickness.  Here are the gasket volumes for the various Best Gasket head gaskets when doing compression ratio calculations.

Best Gasket for regular bores              12.91” X 0.046” = 10.00cc

Best Gasket #572B (3.937” bore)        12.99” X 0.046” = 10.12cc

Best Gasket (4.030” bore)                   13.35” X 0.046” = 10.69cc

hi ted, what cc are the tin gaskets? thanks.

Wayne.  I'm in Lima, Ohio right now so I'll get that cc number for you when I get back to Texas.

Wayne.  Here are the numbers I use for the ‘tin’ head gaskets.

Ford steel shim C1AE-6051-B            12.68” X 0.025” = 5.24cc

Ford steel shim C3TE-6051-E             12.68” X 0.026” = 5.45cc

Welcome back Ted and let me shake your hand for a great accomplishment in building that "little engine that could"!!

I never realized there was a difference in the steel gasket thicknesses.

How does the Ford steel gasket compare in thickness to the Felpro as that is the only ones we can still find.

I have never seen a C1AE gasket, maybe were not available here.

I have a B9AE gasket set which is the same as the C3TE but less the steam holes like the C3TE has.

Marv.  I havn’t run across a FelPro steel shim head gasket so I don’t have any measurements for that particular gasket.  But if someone will send me a used FelPro steel shim head gasket, I’ll do the measurements and add the information to the list I’ve started.  I do have a Victor steel shim gasket and it’s 0.025” thick.

hi ted, thanks for the info. i dug out a set of victor steel shim gaskets for a linc. and they mic. at .019, v-I2535. i also have a v-3502 composite at .045, but it looks like it was installed but never run, so it would be compressed. they both have 4.080 bore.
