I have a 57 Custom 300 with a 292 and Fordomatic that I'd like to put a floorshift in. Lokar and Gennie don't make a floorshift for this trans. Anyone have an idea as to what might work?

Thanks in advance,

Norris

I seem to remember this being addressed before, or something similar. But of course I can't find it. Maybe someone remembers?

Norris:

I would think the FMX shifter would work, you just would not be able to use the manual 1st position because your FOM won't shift that far.  The 2nd gear position on the shifter would actually be your LO.

Thanks John. So the cases and lever are the same(or close to the same)?

Yes, very similar.  The FMX is a later version of the COM and FOMs.  Differences are 1st gear start, PRND21 shift selector, and vacuum modulator.

How about a floor shift from a 57 Tbird?
