I am going though my blocks, picking out a nice one for the new aluminum heads. Ran across An ECZ -a block with 292 journals. Seeing how the block castings can either be 312 or 292 . It is my belief, that the main area is stronger on the 292's . Less prone to cracking.

WHen I send out my 312 crank out for offset grinding, just get mains cut too. Anything I am missing ??

Be sure to cut the rear main seal area on the 312 crank down to the 292 size.  If your crank grinder has a very narrow stone, then specify leaving the oil slinger at the rear of the crank in place although the O.D. of the slinger must also be cut down to fit the 292 block.
