Got a line on the supercharger only for $300. Sounds like a steal to me. I know mounting brackets and bonnet are reproduced. What parts are tough to come up with to make a runing outfit. Not necessarily looking for concours correct but would be nice?

I assume you are looking at a VR not VS series blower and plan to install on a passenger car, not T-Bird.  Any original S/C part is hard to find.  There are also two stamped support brackets, I don't think anyone repops these, but they could be fabbed.

Air cleaner assy, hoses, pulleys, intake manifold, and control rod were/are available repop or aftermarket.  The reference fuel pump, one could use an electric with a regulator.  Pressurized carburetor could be built using a standard version.

I'd be concerned about the condition of the blower.  If replacement parts are available for a VR, I'd like to know where.

I'm certain John F. could add to this thread too.

Regards,

Dennis K.

Dennis has hit all the high spots accurately.  Frank is no longer making castings, so any of his repop parts that are sold out are no longer available and won't be from him.

What is the difference between VS and VR and how do you tell. Am dual quad expert, not supercharger expert. Have T-Bird, not passenger car. Edecuate me please.

The VR has a ribbed case, the air outlet is tangential and comes out from the outside edge of the case, it has about a 3" diameter single or double groove pulley for a 3/8" belt(s), has oil inlet and drain fittings for engine oil.  VS has a smooth case, the air outlet comes out the back of the blower, it has a larger pulley with a movable part for variable speed, has self contained lube with a dipstick, and uses about a 1" wide belt.  The T-Bird VR original attending parts are even harder to find than passenger, as only 212 were built by the factory in '57.  The passenger stuff won't work on a Bird, won't clear the hood.  And as Dennis said, parts for the VR are not available.
