George,

There are basically four different factory forged steel connecting rods to choose from for the Y here in the States.  The ECZ and C1 rods are 6.252" long while the EBU and C2 rods are 6.324" long.  The shorter ECZ rods were standard fare in the 312's while the longer EBU rods were in the passenger car 272/292's.  The C1 and C2 rods could be found in the various truck engines.  Strength wise, I've always considered the C1 and C2 rods nominally better than the ECZ and EBU rods but really haven't had any issues with any of them as long as they are properly prepped before using them.

I trust this helps.

I have EBU rods in my .060" over 292. I made four passes on strip last weekend and rev it 5500 rpm on 1st and 2nd gear (auto). Like Ted said if rods are made right they'll last high rpm.
