NHRA sticks it to us again

Well good old nhra did it again.  They changed their stock class rules for 2011 to accept cars from '55 instead of from '60.  But in looking at the rule book, I see that cadillac and chevrolet are the only two marques that nhra has specs for, so all others are not eligible for stock class.  Sounds like they are kissing the '55-'57 scrub guys a$$es---again.  Looks like the fuel injected 4 speed hydro sedan deliveries will be back, but no blown Fords.

I'm confused? Did they just eliminate all Fords prior to 1960 with a stroke of the pen?  But the two scrubs can run back to 55? Chuck in NH

Chuck:

They eliminated all cars back to '60 with a stroke of the pen back in the early '70s.  For 2011 they reinstated cars back to '55, but only the ones they say they have specs for.  IHRA never eliminated the old stockers, I think there is at least one circa '52 oldsmobile still running in IHRA.

I would say its time to also VOTE them out of office.

It's strange how much information we can come up with while pursuing our hobby but the NHRA "officials" can't seem to locate with all of their resources. Hum, I wonder how hard they had to work to ignore the available information! And they wonder why other racing association are able to survive. Chuck in NH

If someone could give them some acurate data, why couldn't they consider it?

I realize that there may not be a ton of entrants, but is a chance to run opens up some would consider.

There has been a bunch of supercharged Fords being put together in the last couple of years.  They would great for some traditonal match racers.

nhra had specs for all those cars back in the '70s.  Wonder why they only saved them for those two makes.  I don't remember any '50s cadillac stockers.

The way I understand stocker racing at national meets is that they no longer have class runoffs, it's a qualified field.  It seems the heavy hitters are all running about a second under their index.  Even if they "find" their specs for blown Fords, they don't need to expect me to show up.
