Adding a manual choke to the 56 teapot...

I have a 56 teapot with the choke on the side of the carb, but since I have modified my intake a little bit, and sealed off the heat tube, and since I really don't want to use an automatic choke, what is the best way to add a manual choke to the 56 teapot? Did Ford or some other manufacturer ever make a kit that would bolt to the side of the carb (ie choke mounting holes)? Anyone have one lying around?

Years ago NAPA, for one, sold such a kit.  It had  choke cover with an external lever and a spot to anchor the outer choke cable.  The inner cable fastened to the lever on the choke cover.  Inside the cover was another lever that engaged the original tang for the choke.  Haven't seen one in years though.

I don't think that is a "Universal" as it looks like its for a later Holley, not a teapot

Holley does sell choke conversion kits to go from original to either manual & electric. After having spoken to the Holley tech help line, not sure how well the electric would work. Having said that, I have a '57 with dual quad teapots. I had the carbs rebuilt including the choke housings. I also removed the intake and replaced the 2 heat tubes running beneath. All now works great and as originally engineered. You may have seen my posts regarding the process.

thanks fellas, I will keep lookin'. I can always put in a choke cable to the lever, but I don't want to make things look at cobbled. Just figured that back in the day, there would have been something like what John was talking about. Of course, those teapots with the choke mounted on the side of the base were used what? 1 year, maybe 2 if you count the dual four barrel setups...
