I need a speedometer drive gear for my T-10 trans from a 62-63 Ford. Does anyone have an old Ford parts book that has the part numbers? Or maybe even be able to tell me if the one in a automatic trans from 62-63 is the same. All help is appreciated! Thanks

'62 w/ 4spd. (352, 390, 406 engines) 7 teeth steel drive gear; Ford part no. C2AZ 17285-A
'63 w/ 4spd. (352, 390, 406, 427 engines) 7 teeth steel gear; Ford part no. C2AZ 17285-A
There's a C2AZ 17285-B drive gear shown as being used in a number of overdrive transmissions between '60 and '63 behind 6 cylinders, 292s, and 352s! While this drive gear is described as also being steel and having 7 teeth, there's got to be some difference or the part number suffix wouldn't be different.
No automatic transmission drive gear part numbers correspond.

The OD trans behind the small engines is probably for an R10, or light duty OD. Probably a smaller diameter shaft.

Are you looking for the drive gear which is on the output shaft of the transmission or the driven gear on the end of the cable?Usually to compensate for changes in tire size or rear axle gears the driven gear is changed.

I'm looking for the drive gear in the trans. I converted the cable and speedometer driven gear when I converted to the 4 speed, only to find that the trans didn't have a gear inside it. I would really like to have a working speedo. If the shaft is smaller on the auto trans I wonder if I could get it turned to fit the 4 speed? I've been told the Super T-10 is different.

If you know the diameter of the shaft where the gear fits, I could look through my transmission parts and see if I have a 7 tooth gear that fits. Yes, the smaller gear could be bored to fit.

It says it is for automatic with overdrive. It is the same number that I need but it ends with a B and I need an A.

I found a C4DZ-17285A but can't confirm if it is the same as the C2AZ-17285A I was told is the correct number I need. This is proving to be more work than installing it. Thanks for looking!

Had a B&W t 10 in my 64 fairlane, had no problems to get a speedo drive, was not the same as in an automatic. I guess you mean the plastic gear. Had to try a couple before i got the right speed on the meter. A tip. dont try how it fits before you clipped it to the speedocable, luckylly its mad of plastic so the gears can eat it. And he has a number mind, parts nrs in his head, its anstonishing, Mail to him is: sven.ullman@telia.com If you contact him tell me, have become to know him not only by buing parts and I think that he would propably think its quite nice to re export, and this gear he propably wont take much for, whom buys such an item? I found a gear from an OD trans, 7 teeth, steel, probably a B7A-C with RH helix. It is 1 3/8 bore. The book shows the C2AZ-B as a steel 7 tooth, no reference to helix or shaft diameter. If you think this B7A gear will work, send me a mailing address.

I don't know for sure, what side does the speedometer cable go into the trans. My T-10 is on the left (drivers) so if the 57 is the same I would think the helix would be the same. It would sure be worth a try. I will send you a PM with my address. Thanks

Received your PM. The cable is on the driver's side, enters above the output shaft. The way I see it, changing to below the shaft would reverse the direction the driven gear turns, would also require the opposite helix on the driven gear.

I'll have to go look but I believe the T-10 is below the output. Well- I checked, and the speedo cable is above the output shaft. Not the first time I have been wrong!

Ol Ford Nut: Sorry, I failed to see the edited version of your post about the location of the gear relative to the shaft, so I didn't realize you wanted the gear. I'll take $10 for the gear, flat rate postage will be $4.95. Again, I'm sorry I dropped the ball here.

You asked for my address and I sent it to you requesting what you wanted. You have never given me your address so I assumed when the gear arrived I would get it off the package. Since I haven't received the gear I now think you are waiting for payment in advance. No problem, but I have no idea where to send it.

James: Sorry about the delay. I sent a PM to you with my address, but now I find no evidence that it was ever sent. I'll get the gear in the mail today. The Priority flat rate postage is now $5.20. John Feistritzer, 800 N. CR 700 E., Selma, IN 47383.

I need the whole barrel for a T-85 3 speed O.D. I'm thinking it should be the same as a T-10 since the T-10 was made from a T-85. All I have in my tail shaft is a hole! I need the whole thing.

I'm not familiar with your terminology. 'Barrel'?
Clarify . . . some T-85 parts I've got.

Sorry for posting on this old post but I am in need of the same gear except 6 tooth. Its from a 1960 f-100 with a T86 and R10 OD. Thanks for the help.

I am assuming the gear on a T-10 is the same as a T-85 & the driven gear goes to the top of the steel drive gear. A gear from older transmissions are the same diameter but will turn backwards since they go to the bottom of the steel (inside) gear. I think all of them have 7 teeth.
